Bio:
I grew up in Northeast, Pa and New Jersey and was taught to appreciate hard work and good values. I am relaxed yet focused, and make friends easily even among my competitors. I initially began racing as a youth in BMX, rode motocross for several years, and then in 2008 began 4 wheel racing in the shifter kart class at BeaveRun. The first stock Honda shifter race that I competed in was a rain race, which I won. I consider adverse conditions to be one of my real strengths as a driver, along with being able to get 100% from my equipment without abusing it. I’ve further honed my racing skills by attending the Skip Barber 3-day and 2-day race schools, lapping session, and was selected as one of 50 karters to contest for the prestigious Skip Barber Karting Shootout. Spec Miata and some autocross driving have also helped me to gain valuable seat time and to work on improving my driving techniques in different situations. With the racing season back underway again, I’m really looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that the 2009 VW Jetta TDI Cup series will bring!
Recent Highlights:
2008 marked Eric's rookie season in 4 wheel racing. He ran the 125 Stock Honda shifter kart class and finished with 6 podiums, (2 firsts, 2 seconds & 2 thirds) in the last 7 races of 2008 season. Eric is continuing to build his race skills and has completed the 3 day & 2 day race schools and a lapping day at Skip Barber. He also competed against 50 of the top karters in the world in the Skip Barber Karting Shootout at Sebring this past December. Eric didn't win any of the 4 scholarships awarded this year, but the experience and opportunity to learn from pros in the sport like Jim Pace, Bruce MacInnes, Gerardo Bonilla and Joel Miller was awesome! And just recently, Eric competed for and was fortunate enough to be selected by Volkswagen to drive in the prestigious TDI Cup Series for 2009! (see Schedule for more details)
